JOB TITLE:                        Deputy Treasurer – Property Tax Payment Clerk

DEPARTMENT:                 Treasurer

SUPERVISOR:                   Tine Wines – Treasurer

Hours:                               Monday – Thursday    7:45 – 5:30

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION 

The deputy treasurer position is a full time position of 35 hours per week.  This position requires the ability to type and process various documents and electronic information.  Must be able to manage, organize and update relevant data using database applications.  This position requires the ability to operate a 10 key calculator with accuracy, answer the telephone and communicate in a friendly professional manner.  Must have the ability to handle and reconcile cash transactions accurately and adhere to stated office policies and procedures related to the quality management.  The treasurer’s office is responsible for the collection of all county property taxes.  The due dates for collections are December 20th and June 20th annually.  Unfortunately, this makes it very difficult to grant time-off around our collection dates. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Applicant will be responsible for posting daily tax receipts and maintaining accurate mailing address’s to county database.  Manage, organize and update relevant data using database applications.  Answer phone and communicate in a friendly and professional manner.  Type and process various documents and electronic information.   Responsible for the collection and receipting of taxes on real and personal property.  Data entry and collections of special assessments for water districts, and translator districts.  This position will maintain and audit all Solid Waste fees.  This requires working closely with the assessor’s office on CAFO changes, splits and/or usage changes on parcels that will affect the solid waste fee.  The responsibility of the treasurer’s office is for the safekeeping of public monies.  The office must receipt and deposit all county revenues on a daily basis.  Applicant must have the ability to post and balance all revenue transactions accurately.  

MINOR DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES

The position is responsible for but not limited to ordering of all office supplies, pickup and processing the daily mail.  Interact and update information with mortgage and taxing service agencies.  Applicant will be responsible for daily general office and clerical procedures, as well as updating and maintenance of the Treasurer’s Web site.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:  High School Diploma or Equivalent

Other:  Applicant must have the ability to operate a 10 key calculator and have general computer and bookkeeping experience with the ability to process cash transactions.   Applicant must have the ability to process work accurately and independently.  Basic knowledge of the AS400 and UAD STC Program is beneficial however is not required.
