[ARCHIVED] ***HIRING*** ASSESSOR'S OFFICE

The Gooding County Assessor’s Office is hiring a Homeowner’s/Circuit Breaker Clerk.

This position serves as the smiling first face of the assessor’s office and assists customers with simple tax assessment questions, fills public records requests, updates the website, changes parcel records and values, runs a weekly audit of the counties assessed value, keeps track of homeowner exemption records and applications, and assists qualified residents with their property tax reduction paperwork. 

The HO/CB clerk will do such office fundamentals as filing, answering phones, using a computer, email, and writing business letters. They will need to learn the county’s parcel number system, must be comfortable giving directions and reading a map, should not be daunted by basic math, and be compassionate but also firm in obeying the letter of the law and dealing with difficult customers.  

This is a customer service position and requires a lot of interaction with the public, both in person and on the phone. The homeowner’s/circuit breaker clerk will also need to be able to keep up with current statutes and procedures from the Idaho State Tax Commission

The minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous office experience is a plus.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this classification.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this classifications, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate tools used in performing the essential functions of classification, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must (occasionally or frequently) lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and, infrequently, up to 50 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification include those, which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person, by telephone.   While performing the duties of this classification, the employee works in an office setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  

Upon offer and acceptance of a position, applicants are subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

This position will work from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Starting wage is $16/hr, DOE.
